A question we get quite a bit on the road is about healthcare and what we do about doctor appointments, check-ups, etc.... We are originally from Oklahoma, and we try to get back there every 4-5 months. When we know we are going to be back in that area, we schedule all of our regular appointments like dental cleanings, eye checkups and anything else we might need. This allows us to keep the same doctors that our insurance covers and that we already have history with.

With that said, there are emergencies that happen. When you travel as much as we do you might have to visit an urgent care or emergency room that you are unfamiliar with. We use google reviews to pick urgent cares in the area and that seems to work well for us. We have had great experiences with doctors all over the United States. Another option we have used is telehealth. We recently used this for an ear infection our daughter had, and we couldn’t kick it ourselves, so we needed an antibiotic. This was a very easy process, and she was better in no time.

Another question we get is how do you maintain a healthy lifestyle on the road? For us, this is also simple, we learned very quickly that eating out all the time has a negative effect on your budget and our bodies. We started limiting our eating out and choosing to eat at home instead. We will still occasionally eat out at places that locals rave about but its all about balance. Finding that healthy balance in any type of lifestyle is key.
We also live a very active lifestyle with a lot of outdoor adventures like hiking, horseback riding and more. Staying active helps us stay healthy. Whether you travel like we do or are more stationary it is important to have a healthy lifestyle. Find ways in your own life to balance your health while still living and enjoying some of the not so healthy choices.
