Traveling the country with our family of 4, here are things we always research when visiting new areas.
- Best food: We cook a lot in our fifth wheel and try not to eat out too often, but we also love to try local food and will at least try a few places in each area we visit.
- Best hikes: This is a must for us. We love hiking and going out in nature and this is one of the first things I add to our list of things to do in each area.
- Things to do with kids: This is a great “Google” search. It usually pulls up museums, playgrounds, state parks, zoos, aquariums, amusement parks, and much more.
- Nature Centers: This one is amazing for finding unique places to visit and learning about the local ecology in each place we explore. For us, this is a must with Homeschooling.
- Local events: This is a great way to find local festivals, farmers markets, and family-friendly events.
- Breweries and Wineries: We love trying local brews and wines. They are usually such a fun experience for the whole family. Some even have food, playgrounds, and fun yard activities.
- Unique experiences: This is such a fun bonus search and we highly recommend it. We have been able to find some cool activities and experiences by googling this that do not pop up in a more generic search of just typing in things to do near me. So, give this one a try and you might find a cool experience like a blacksmith class or cathedral made of junk, or a glass bottom boat tour.
- Waterfalls: Of course, this one is such a toss-up depending on the areas you are visiting but we always give it a try even if we think there isn’t any in the area. We have been pleasantly surprised and love a waterfall no matter how big or small.
