What does it take to RV full-time?

This is kind of a loaded question and can look differently for everyone, but I will take you through five basics to hopefully get you started and help you on your journey to full-time RV life.

1. The first thing you need to figure out is what type of RV works for your family. What can you afford and what makes the most sense to purchase. This decision needs to also include your vehicle. For us we looked at all types from fifth wheels to Class A motorhomes. It was more affordable to get the space we needed and fit our budget with a fifth wheel and a dually to safely tow our fifth wheel.

4. While most of your expenses, like water, electricity and trash, will be included in your stay at each campground, we highly recommend you purchasing your own internet. Most campgrounds and even nice resorts will advertise their Wi-Fi, but it usually does not work well enough for streaming or working remotely. For the past several years, we travel with Verizon Home Internet. It works great and is way more affordable than Starlink.

5. If you cannot use a family member's address, purchasing a domicile address is the way to go. It’s very affordable and helps make living and traveling full-time possible. We chose Texas Homebase to save on state income tax and being able to travel in Texas often. For us, this one made the most sense when switching our license and vehicle registration.
